Joseph Maynard died of wounds on 9th May, 1915 after having been taken back to a hospital in Boulogne on the coast but as yet there is no information as to when and where he was wounded. The 2nd Essex Battalion were part of 12 Brigade, 4th Division which had been engaged in the heavy fighting around Ypres during April and May, 1915. |
